Next map activities help students pin-point the geographical location of the Ozarks. The final section is a series of prompts and questions about dogs and their relationship with humans. Two bulletin board ideas are also included.

    6 short (1-2 pages) articles help spark interest and give students a little extra information about some of the places and things they will encounter in reading.
    Each one comes with its own set of CCSS/Standards-based questions.

These pages can be held strictly for teacher reference and convenience or shared with students as they complete the three Dictionary Digs activities. Two word usage activities completes the word study.
    This component also includes two figurative language worksheets. Selected samples of figures of speech (simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, hyperbole, alliteration, and idiom) used by the author are taken from the text and presented to the student for study as multiple choice questions with 4 possible answers.

    The 50-question multiple choice test (4 possible answers) is strictly fact-based. Students must have full knowledge of the story’s plot, events, and characters in order to do well on this quiz.

    The 20-question CCSS/Standards-Based test The 20 question test requires students to engage in higher-level thinking skills and apply their knowledge of story facts. This quiz ends with an analytical, interpretive writing prompt.
